Sport Management
The B.S. in Sport Management enables students to apply the fundamental concepts of management, marketing, finance, and law to sport organizations. Students pursue employment opportunities in professional sport franchises, intercollegiate athletic departments, sports media industries, sporting goods merchandising, and sport organizing committees, among other organizations. Within sport organizations, students may focus on facility and event management, marketing, administration, compliance, ticket operations, sponsorship sales, fundraising, player representation, and a range of other sport-related jobs.
Admission Requirements
Transfer students must complete specific prerequisite courses prior to their enrollment at UF. The BS-SPM program requires an Associate of Arts degree with a minimum 2.2 prerequisite GPA and a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Sport Management Prerequisites:
- ECO2013 or ECO2023 Microeconomics or Macroeconomics
- ACG2021 Principles of Accounting
Recommended Lower Division Courses
When preparing for admission to our college, applicants should also consider taking lower division courses that will aid in your transition into upper division coursework if admitted to the Department of Tourism, Recreation & Sport Management. These recommended courses are requirements for graduation from the B.S. degree in Sport Management, but are not pre-requisites for admission. The department recommends the following coursework:
- PSY2012 General Psychology
- CGS1100 Introduction to Computer Applications (or equivalent CGS course)
- SPC2608 Introduction to Public Speaking (or equivalent SPC course)
- ACG2071 Managerial Accounting
- MAC1147 Precalculus Algebra and Trigonometry
In lieu of MAC1147, students meet the math requirement by completing BOTH of the following courses:
- MAC1140 Precalculus Algebra
- STA2023 Introduction to Statistics
